Bucket List.

Well, I have started a bucket list!

I've always said that something is on my bucket list but really, I haven't actually made one. That has changed today. I've officially started this bucket list. I know it may be pointless, but it's always a cool thing to see what I want to be able to accomplish in my life, Lord willing. I have nineteen things so far, ranging from completing at least four years of college, to watching the sun set and rise in one day at different coast. You should do one sometime. I think it's fun. :)

Happiness: Found in Yourself or God?

Hey guys! Well, I was having a thought the other day and I will just blog about it.

"Happiness means more to me then anything else. If I have to stray to achieve that, that's fine with me." This saddens me to say that this a quote from a conversation that my friend had. This is the supposed great outlook on life that most people have today, but why? Happiness definition is this "good fortune; pleasure; contentment; joy." What is your happiness? Maybe your computer, friends, or love? There are so many worldly pleasures that people put their happiness into. But what people don't understand today is TRUE happiness is not found in earthly things, you can only receive true happiness through Jesus Christ. I would post the whole chapter of Ecclesiastes 2 but it is far to long so I recommend reading the whole chapter when you can.

"24 A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, 25 for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? 26 To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind."

This is a GREAT chapter about true happiness. There are so many things that people are missing in society. This is the real reason for happiness. If you think you are happy with what you are doing and do not think that God could make you any happier, I just want you to know that your happiness won't last forever. Now, God loves everyone, for we ALL are sinners so why would he not want you to be happy? It's not that he doesn't want you to be happy, but because that you take refuge in other things, making your own happiness your idol, and not looking to Him instead.

This song states it best "In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die. Where you invest your love, you invest your life." ~Mumford and Sons

Writting assignment: My Three LEAST Favorite Words.

Now, onto the words I don’t like.  One that I know I don’t like is selfish.  To make this easy here is the definition “devoted to or caring only for oneself; concerned primarily with one's own interests, benefits, welfare, regardless of others.”  Being selfish is never a good thing.  In James 3:16 the bible states “For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.”  We were born with evil in our hearts including the trait of selfishness, so we all have to work on our motivations and fight against our sinful nature.

“You can’t do anything right!”  Now, when someone tells me that I can’t do something this makes me mad.  Maybe it’s because of me having a stubborn attitude, or just cause I like to challenge that person to prove them wrong.  But also, can’t is a very discouraging word.  I like things that are uplifting and put me into a good mood, not something that’s going to ruin my day.  This is why can’t is another one of my least favorite words.

Now, my last word is pretty normal and understandable, fake.  Now when this word comes to mind I think of “somebody or something not genuine.”  Many things and people are fake.  In today’s society people like to try to be someone their not.  A lot of high schools have this issue.  Kids try to be someone their not to either fit in with a group of people or be accepted. From your clothes to your hair, a lot of people will judge you. If being phony is what it takes to not be judged, many times they choose that.  This nation needs more people who will stand up and be themselves to go against the flow.

Writting assignment: Three of my Favorite words.

First I will start off with my three favorite words.  I would like to say that beautiful is one of my favorites.  Although I don’t use it very often, I still love this word.  I guess one reason would be because God made everything and everyone beautiful.  The sun, stars, moon, and trees. But, the only thing he made in his image was us human beings.  We were made out of dust, Him breathing life into us.  This is just one of the many reasons why beautiful is one of my favorite words.

My second word would have to be tenacity, or tenacious. Tenacious means “Not easily dispelled or discouraged; persisting in existence or in a course of action.”  I like this word because it means never give up.  I think this should always be your mindset once you are attempting something new, or old.  I know that when I start learning something new I never give up.  I guess that’s where learning to teach myself how to ride a bike, tie my shoe laces, teaching myself piano and guitar comes from. That, or being stubborn.

Now, my last word might be surprising but hopefully you will understand. Sarcasm. Yep, this is one of my favorites. I guess the reason why it’s my favorite is because I like to think I speak sarcasm fluently.  You can ask my family and friends but I’m sure they will tell you the same thing, I’m very sarcastic. Now, you might think this is a bad thing, and I know it can be, but my family is very sarcastic. So I guess I got it from them.  As I like to say “Thank you Captain Obvious.” My brother now replies, “Your welcome Sergeant Sarcasm.”
